Even If… I Will Rejoice

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.
Habakkuk 3:17-19
We often plan our lives in a way that everything will go smoothly—no delays, no pain, no uncertainty. We choose the easy path, hoping for guaranteed outcomes. But if everything is already figured out, where does faith come in?
The prophet Habakkuk found himself in a situation where nothing made sense. His nation was on the brink of destruction. There was invasion, suffering, and loss. Fear crept into his heart, and he questioned God. He felt overwhelmed—just like we do when life falls apart.
Yet something powerful happened.
At the end of his prayer, Habakkuk made a choice—not based on his circumstances, but on his faith.
Even if there were no crops.
Even if there was no food.
Even if everything he depended on was gone—He still chose to rejoice in the Lord.
Why?
Because God was still his strength.
Sometimes, God allows us to walk through seasons where nothing is certain so that we will learn to fully depend on Him. Faith grows not when everything is clear, but when everything is unclear—and we still choose to trust.
God doesn’t ask us to have everything figured out. He asks us to trust the One who already has.
“The Lord makes my feet like the feet of a deer…”
A deer doesn’t fear steep mountains. Its feet are designed to climb, to endure, to move with strength and balance no matter how difficult the terrain is. In the same way, God equips us. He strengthens us. He enables us to walk through high and difficult places we never thought we could overcome.
You may feel tired. You may feel uncertain. You may not understand what God is doing.
But here is the truth:
He will carry you.
He will strengthen you.
He will enable you to reach the heights He has prepared for you.
So rest your weary heart.
Take that step of faith.
Because whether things go the way you planned or not—God is still good.
