Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Not everyone is blessed with a sister by blood, but God, in His loving and creative way, still provides us with people who fill that sacred space in our lives. I wasn’t born with a sister. I only have one brother, but God gave me two girl cousins who became the sisters I never had.
They grew up with us, cared for by my parents as their own. And from little moments to life’s biggest milestones, we were there for each other. Through them, I experienced the kind of bond that only sisters can share — full of laughter, secrets, deep conversations, and shared tears.
They were my support system when I was low, the ones who lent a hand and even their wallets when I ran out of money, the ones who took me to places I had never been, and treated me with food I hadn’t tasted yet. But more than the gifts and experiences, they gave me presence — the kind that stays. The kind that reminds me: I am never alone.
Their love reflects the kind of love that comes from God — steadfast, generous, understanding, and true. I believe God places these “chosen sisters” in our lives to remind us of His own closeness. That even when life gets hard, we have someone to lean on, just like we lean on Him.
Maybe you don’t have a sister by birth either. But look around — maybe God has already given you someone who fills that space, someone who chooses to love you like family. And maybe, you are also being called to be that kind of sister to someone else.
Thank God today for the people who have become “family by heart.” Reach out to your sister — by blood or by bond — and remind her how much she means to you.
