I have given you authority… to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
Luke 10:19
As believers, we are not powerless. Jesus Himself declared that He has given us authority—not just to survive, but to overcome. Yet too often, we live as though we are defeated, bound by fear, temptation, or insecurity. Why? Because we forget to exercise the authority we've been given.
In Luke 10:19, Jesus tells His disciples that they have authority over “snakes and scorpions”—symbolic of demonic forces and spiritual enemies. This was not reserved for the twelve apostles alone, but extended to all who follow Him. That includes you.
Exercising authority means standing firm on God’s promises. It means speaking truth over lies, peace over chaos, healing over sickness, and freedom over bondage. Authority isn’t arrogance—it’s walking in the confidence of who you are in Christ.
But like any power, spiritual authority must be used responsibly and prayerfully. Jesus, though all-powerful, still lived in submission to the Father. We are called to do the same.
So today, remind yourself: you are not weak. You are a child of the King, and you’ve been equipped with divine authority. Speak life. Resist the enemy. Declare victory. Not in your own strength, but in the powerful name of Jesus.
