“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
Genesis 50:20
Life is full of twists and turns. At times, we may find ourselves walking through seasons of deep pain, betrayal, and confusion. We may ask, “Why is this happening to me?” or “Where is God in all of this?” In moments like these, we can feel forgotten, defeated, or even abandoned. But the story of Joseph powerfully reminds us that God is always working behind the scenes—turning the tables, even when we cannot see it.
Joseph's life was marked by pain and injustice. His own brothers sold him into slavery because they were jealous of him. Later, he was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and thrown into prison. From the outside, it looked like the enemy had won—Joseph was rejected, falsely imprisoned, and forgotten.
But God hadn’t forgotten Joseph. In fact, God was carefully preparing him for a purpose far greater than he could imagine. Every setback was actually a setup for the blessing that was to come. God used Joseph’s trials to shape his character, strengthen his faith, and position him to save many lives during a severe famine.
This is the beauty of God’s sovereignty: He can take what the enemy meant for harm and turn it into something good. He can bring hope from heartbreak, strength from struggle, and joy from sorrow. When we walk with Him through the valleys, He uses even the most painful parts of our story to bring glory to His name and healing to others.
Whatever you may be facing right now—whether it’s a betrayal, a disappointment, a loss, or an attack from the enemy—know this: God has the final say. The pit is not your end. The prison is not your destiny. God is the One who turns graves into gardens, mourning into dancing, and trials into triumphs. He is still in control, and He is still turning tables.
Hold on to your faith. Don’t give up in the middle of your story. What the enemy meant to destroy you, God will use to develop you. What the enemy tried to use to stop your purpose, God will use to launch you into it.
