My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when He corrects you.
For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.
Proverbs 3:11-12
To succeed in life, we must accept God's correction with gratitude, as it shows His love for us. Just like parents discipline their children out of love, God disciplines us to steer us away from harm and destruction caused by sin and temptation. His correction teaches us to avoid returning to sinful ways, reflecting His love and care for us.
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it (Hebrews 12:11). Receiving discipline is painful yet necessary. But God’s Word shows us that the pain is not pointless. When we embrace the Lord’s discipline, it bears life-giving fruit in our lives. The fruit of righteousness and peace to those who are trained by it. You can’t be trained by something you’re despising. We have to embrace God’s discipline if we are to reap the benefits it promises. Be amazed at God’s love for us. The hardest thing has been done—He has paid our penalty. What remains for us is to receive His discipline and reproof as the loving means God uses to make us more like Christ.
Hebrews 12:11
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
