People Need People

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10
Today, I went out with my friends — a simple gathering, really. We didn’t plan for anything grand. Just shared food, laughter, and stories that held bits of both joy and pain. Some memories made us cry, others made us laugh so hard our cheeks hurt.
But in all of it, there was this unshakable truth that settled deep in my heart:
People need people.
God never designed us to do life alone. In fact, from the very beginning, He said, “It is not good for man to be alone.” (Genesis 2:18). We were created not just to walk with God, but also to walk with one another — to be present, available, willing to listen, and to simply be there.
One of the most overlooked acts of worship is presence. Yes, worship is singing, praying, and serving — but sometimes, worship is simply showing up. Being a shoulder to cry on. Being a voice that says, “You’re not alone.” Being the arms that hug, the ears that listen, the heart that understands.
Today reminded me of how comforting presence can be. We may not always say the right words, and sometimes, we don’t even need to. Just being there speaks louder than advice. Just being available communicates love.
God knows what we need. And in His kindness, He places the right people in our lives — friends who walk with us through the valleys and rejoice with us on the mountaintops. They become reflections of His comfort, His love, His care.
So if you’re reading this, take a moment to thank God for the people in your life — the ones who show up, stay, listen, and love. And then, be that person for someone else. Because people need people. And what a beautiful gift it is to be one.
