But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33
When we hear the phrase "seek first the Kingdom of God," we often think it means doing more—joining more ministries, attending every church event, or filling our feed with Bible verses and worship songs.
But what if seeking the Kingdom isn’t about doing more, but about being with Him more?
True seeking begins in the quiet, unseen places of our lives. It’s not in the spotlight of the pulpit or the stage, but in the stillness of the morning when we whisper, “Good morning, Lord. What do You want me to do today?” It’s when we open our Bibles before we open our phones. It’s choosing to kneel before Him before we stand before the world.
Jesus said, “Remain in Me, and you will bear much fruit” (John 15:5). That fruit—love, joy, peace, patience—doesn’t come from being busy in church work. It comes from being deeply connected to the Vine. Ministry is good, but intimacy with God is better. Public service should flow from private surrender.
You can post all the verses you want online, but if your heart is far from God, it means little. God isn’t looking for online activity—He’s after your heart. Seeking Him first means that your first thoughts, your first decisions, your first steps are all guided by Him. It’s not just what the world sees, but what you do when no one’s looking. It’s in the prayer whispered in secret. The tears cried in His presence. The silence where you simply listen.
Let your heart posture say, “God, I want You more than I want to be seen doing things for You.” That’s what it means to seek His Kingdom first.
