Shining Hope: Children’s Ministry in Kwadeka Village, Malawi

In the soul of Kwadeka Village, Ngabu, Chikwawa, Malawi, a powerful movement of faith is unfolding through the dedicated efforts of Sister Mercy, wife of Bishop Patrick Jackson. Leading the children’s ministry at Equipping the Saints International Ministries-Africa, Sister Mercy is creating a vibrant space for young hearts to encounter Christ. Through her passionate teaching, she is nurturing a new generation of believers who are being shaped by the Word of God. Their mission is simple yet profound—to nurture, guide, and empower the children of their community through the teachings of Christ and the transformative power of faith. By means of Bible stories, songs, interactive lessons, and prayer, the children are not just learning about the gospel; they are experiencing it in a way that is both relevant and exciting to them.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”Proverbs 22:6

This verse is a cornerstone of Sister Mercy’s teaching approach. By planting the seeds of faith early in the children’s lives, she believes they will grow to be strong, faithful leaders who carry Christ’s message into the world.

In a region where many children face economic challenges, Sister Mercy is helping to build a strong spiritual foundation that will last a lifetime. By instilling Christian values such as love, kindness, and perseverance, she is equipping the children with more than just religious knowledge but also giving them the tools to navigate life’s challenges with faith and resilience. She is shaping the leaders of tomorrow, helping them understand that they are part of a greater purpose in God's plan.

“But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’” – Matthew 19:14

Children hold a special place in God’s kingdom. Knowing this, Sister Mercy is dedicated to nurturing the relationship between the children and our Maker by teaching them about His love and His purpose for their lives. She teaches the children while also learning from their joy and faith, building a cycle of sharing and service that reflects the heart of Christ.

“Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches.” – Galatians 6:6 (ESV)

Sister Mercy’s vision for the children in Kwadeka Village is one of transformation. She believes that by investing in the spiritual and emotional development of young people today, she is planting seeds that will bear fruit in the future. With a deep commitment to the children, she is helping to build a generation that will go on to make a positive impact, not only in their community but throughout Malawi and beyond. Her work is a testament to the power of faith, love, and service. In the midst of hardship, Sister Mercy’s children’s ministry is a reminder that God’s light shines brightly, offering hope and healing to all.

As Sister Mercy, together with her husband Bishop Patrick Jackson, continues to lead this important work in Kwadeka Village, they face both joys and challenges. Their ministry is growing, but with growth comes the need for more resources, wisdom, and strength. In light of this, they humbly request prayers. Prayer is an essential part of their work, as they rely on God’s guidance and provision to continue impacting the lives of these children and their community. Through their unwavering commitment to the children of the community, they are raising up a generation of strong, faithful individuals who will carry the message of Christ into the future. As they continue to teach, love, and inspire, Sister Mercy’s work is not just transforming lives—it’s building the future of the Church in Malawi.

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16

Prayer can make the ministry thrive, and the seeds that are being planted in the children’s hearts today will take root and bear much fruit in the years to come as they abide in Christ. Sister Mercy and Bishop Patrick Jackson trust that God’s plans for the children of Kwadeka Village are greater than they can imagine, and with prayer and God’s power, they will see His will unfold in powerful ways.

“And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” – Matthew 18:5

Sister Mercy’s ministry, rooted in love and service, is a powerful testament to the belief that when we welcome children into the fold of God’s love, we are welcoming Christ Himself.

Let us join them in prayer as they continue this journey of faith and transformation!
