Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
My mom is an amazing cook. She can prepare all kinds of dishes—soups, stews, desserts—you name it. But there’s one thing she never quite mastered: cooking pancit canton. Funny enough, that’s my specialty. While I’m no kitchen expert myself, when it comes to pancit canton, I’ve got it covered.
This simple difference between us reminds me of a powerful truth: we’re not meant to do life alone. My strength meets her weakness, and her strengths cover mine. That’s how God designed us—to need each other, to complement one another, to live in community.
Too often, we try to handle life on our own, thinking we should be able to do everything by ourselves. But God never intended that. In fact, His very nature is relational—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in perfect unity. And He calls us to live in that same kind of connection with one another.
Your weakness might be someone else’s strength. And your strength might be exactly what someone else is praying for. When we isolate ourselves, we miss out not only on help—but on the joy of being used by God in someone else’s life.
Let’s be like Jesus: caring, loving, and available.
We may not be perfect but, we can be present.
Willing to help, and humble enough to receive help, too.
