God’s will—perhaps one of the most well-known phrases among believers, especially for our young men and women today. If you were to ask them what it means, they would immediately say that “God’s will” is about finding the right partner, someone who is a fellow believer and meets their standards. For some, he might be tall, dark, and handsome. Finding “God’s will” ranks at the top of their prayer lists, and this is the reason for their “praying without ceasing.”
I want to clarify that there is nothing wrong with seeking the Lord's will for our future partners; it’s a good thing. However, the issue is that it has become the main focus, and we tend to overlook the specific will of God as revealed in the Bible, which we have forgotten to study and meditate on.
Ephesians 5:17 tells us that understanding the will of the Lord is a wise thing to do, so here are the lists of Biblical verses concerning God's will for us:
1 Thessalonians 4:3 NLT
God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22 NKJV
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.
God's Will Is For Everyone To Be Saved
1 Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men (all people, men, and women) to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
You Are Equipped To Do His Will
Hebrews 13:20-21 NKJV
Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
