Did Jesus Feed the Five Thousand?

Updated: May 29, 2023

Most of us have heard how Jesus fed the five thousand with only five loaves and the two fishes. I love this story because I always know God is in control of my daily provision and I need never to fear concerning his faithfulness to me. It also confronts me with another hidden truth as I read it again. Jesus didn't feed the five thousand, his disciples did. This story begins with Jesus commanding his disciples to "give ye them to eat." What a beautiful picture of God's plan for us today. "give ye them to eat!" Jesus wants us to be his expression of love, mercy and provision today. He gives us what we need and then we must go and do. Let us be encouraged now in knowing Jesus will meet our every need and he wants us to be his hands, his feet, his voice, and his love into the world we live in today.
