FIRSTFRUITS

Honor the Lord with your wealth; with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Proverbs 3:9-10

God is the ultimate source of all our increase.

Everything that we have right now is given to us by God. The air that we breathe, the water we drink, the food on our table, even our business or our job and the money in our pocket.

It is essential to recognize that all blessings come from God, and by acknowledging this, we show our gratitude and respect for His provision.

As we thank God, let us also honor Him through all the resources we have, whether we see it as little or more. Cultivate a mindset of stewardship. Just as planting a seed requires care and attention to grow into a fruitful tree, honoring God with our resources involves nurturing and utilizing them wisely.

God is honored when we give Him substance from the barn, not just the leftovers. It is a reflection of our priorities and values to offer God the firstfruits of our increase. This act of giving back to God what He has blessed us with not only shows our appreciation but also opens the way for not just further but overflowing blessings and abundance in our lives.

Giving God the firstfruits of our blessings is a way of acknowledging His sovereignty and trusting in His faithfulness to provide for our needs. This act of honoring God with our resources is not just a duty but a privilege that allows us to participate in His work and experience His abundant grace.

It makes sense to give God “the firstfruits of all our increase” because He is ultimately the one who gives that increase.

1 Corinthians 3:7

So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.
