Truths About God

When we try to fit God into our mind and logic through reasoning we make him God like ourselves and he becomes nothing more than a graven image and idol within us; the same as if we made him a graven image and idol on the outside. When we reject everything that the Bible says about God and accept anything that it doesn't say He is, we begin to create and serve a God of our own imagination.

Here are a few biblical truths about God to help us comprehend who He is and how much He cares for each of us:

1. God created, maintains, controls, and guides everything.

“I have made the earth and created man on it. I—My hands—stretched out the heavens and all their host I have commanded.”

Isaiah 45:12

You alone are the Lord; You have made heaven, The heaven of heavens, with all their host, The earth and everything on it, The seas and all that is in them, And You preserve them all. The host of heaven worships You.

Nehemiah 9:6

2. God is all-powerful.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all.

I Chronicles 29:11

3. God is all-knowing.

...God is greater than our hearts, and knows all things.

I John 3:20

4. God is Holy.

No one is holy like the Lord, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.

I Samuel 2:2

5. God is different than we are.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

Isaiah 55:8

6. God sees and hears differently than we do.

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

I Samuel 16:7

7. God’s eye never leaves us, and we are always in his mind and in his thoughts.

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

Psalms 139:17-18

8. God is a Spirit

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

John 4:24

9. God is a Person you can know.

The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

Psalms 145:18

...but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

Daniel 11:32

10. God is a loving Father.

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

I John 3:1

11. God is worthy to be worshipped.

“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”

Revelation 4:11

12. God is mindful of us.

What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

Psalms 8:4

In our quest to comprehend the nature of God, we often attempt to confine Him within the limited boundaries of our human understanding and logic. However, the truth remains that God transcends our comprehension and defies our attempts to mold Him according to our desires. We must come to recognize and believe everything He says He is, and what He says we are.

He is holy, distinct from humanity, perceiving the world through a lens we cannot fathom. Yet, even in His infinite majesty, He intimately knows and cares for each one of us. We discover that God is not an impersonal force or an idol of our own making but a personal God, inviting us to know Him and experience His unconditional love as a loving Father.

Let us make a decision today to serve the only true God of the Bible, the God of heavens and the earth, the God who was, and is, and is to come, with all our hearts and with all our souls and with all our minds, and not the gods of our mind and logic.
